Vinyl Bar

VINYL BAR
Keeping up with New Trends

Project Brief
To manufacture multiple fixtures for a new night club / bar by a specialist design house commissioned by the owner Alfie Best.
To work from concept images and engineer solutions to meet the vision of the client.

Design Process
To maintain the character of a “Mod” culture incorporating many iconic images from the era.
Included – sections of a Mini Clubman, Lambretta Scooters and all the support infrastructure and mechanisms.
Create dimensionally accurate manufacturing drawings from the design rendered drawing packs for final approval.
To survey the construction site for health and safety, access and dimensional compliance.

Manufacturing Process
We procured a 1969 Mini Car, dissembled it and fitted frameworks and mechanisms to create a bar (the entire side of the car), a sink in the lavatory (from the car boot section) and decorative panels (the car roof became a ceiling mounted light fixture).
We procured three 1960’s Lambretta LI 150’s scooters from India and dissembled them and fitted frameworks and mechanisms to create a DJ box, specialist urinals and decorative panels.
We adopted classic car seats with new frameworks and created numerous minor décor items to meet the design brief.
All items were constructed with hidden fixings and finished in paint / vinyl wraps to meet the high aesthetic requirement.

Installation
Working closely with the main contractor – the fixtures were installed and built to an exacting timetable.
Access was challenging with the club being located in a small basement in central London.

Conclusion
The project was delivered on-time and to budget.
The Vinyl Bar has featured in Channel 4’s “How’d you get so rich” in which some of our creations were showcased.
