York Station

YORK STATION
Modern Twist on a Classic!

Project Brief
To manufacture the superstructure and exterior metalwork’s for four new passenger “Waiting Rooms” on the respective platforms of York Railway Station (English Heritage governed).
To apply finished coating to meet the lifecycle and environmental requirements of the client.

Design Process
Create dimensionally accurate manufacturing drawings from the Architectural drawing packs for final approval.
To survey the construction site for health and safety, access and dimensional compliance.

Manufacturing Process
The superstructures were manufactured in kit form for easy assembly on-site and to allow each kit to be delivered to each platform with restricted access.
Panels were created with bonding finished aluminium to boards and fixed with hidden fixing system to meet the high aesthetic requirement.

Installation
Working closely with the main contractor – the kits were erected overnight whilst the station was closed to an exacting timetable.
Access was challenging with the use of the passenger bridge system and multiple stairways to navigate.
Health and Safety was rigorous and required awareness and compliance to the “Network Rail” standards.

Conclusion
The project was delivered on-time and to budget.
